The Rannerdale World War One Commemorative Centre Regimental Dinner is a premier Christchurch event supported by the New Zealand Defence Force to honour our First World War Veterans.

The Regimental Dinner will be held at the Air Force Museum, Wigram, Christchurch on the 28 February 2015 and will be attended by Chief of Defence Lieutenant General Timothy (Tim) Keating, MNZM, Chief of Army Major General A.D. Gawn, MBE, Her Worship the Mayor of Christchurch Lianne Dalziel along with other dignitaries. 

The Royal New Zealand Ballet is honoured to collaborate with the New Zealand Army Band and distinguished New Zealand composers and choreographers Dwayne Bloomfield, Gareth Farr, Neil Ieremia and Andrew Simmons, in this special programme of works to mark the centenary of the Gallipoli landings.

Alongside classic pieces by Johan Kobborg (Salute, New Zealand premiere), Neil Ieremia and Andrew Simmons will create two world premieres.

From December 2014 to February 2015, Christchurch City Libraries is hosting a World War One Exhibition at Central Library Peterborough, 85-87 Peterborough Street. The Exhibition includes a Uniform, holdall, and a collection of Christmas postcards, menus and cards.

Join Te Papa history curator, Kirstie Ross, as she talks about the importance of things in maintaining individual, family and local identities during a conflict that was global and globalising.

The First World War seeped and stormed into every aspect of New Zealander’s lives. The things that survived – a crumpled theatre ticket, a knitting pattern, a crucifix made from rifle cartridges – bring this distant event back into our hands today.

Join a workshop with Christchurch City Libraries staff, who will introduce a range of New Zealand digital resources that will help you unravel the mysteries of your First World War photographs and official records.
