Almost one hundred years after the beginning of World War One, the impact of this conflict can still be seen in New Zealand’s landscape and in the stories and collections of individuals, families and institutions. This seminar will uncover the experiences of Cantabrians, both at home and overseas, during World War One. It explores what life was like for the men, women and children of 1914-18, shares the objects they left behind to tell their stories and reflects on the significance of the conflict today.
